TOUR OF THE SALVATION ARMY FACILITIES (WW) Where and When: Meet at The Barn for 10:00 am pickup on Wed, Feb 3 (Return around 2:30 pm)
Take Note - Space is very limited so please answer immediately.
When the temperatures drop and people have no place to sleep besides the streets, it is often the Salvation Army that responds with shelter, food and counseling. We all contribute to their red kettles at Christmas. On Wednesday, February 3rd we have a chance to tour their facilities in Cambridge, Boston and the new Kroc Center. We will see their "drop-in- center" for the homeless: the beds, classrooms, detox centers and "Our Place" for homeless babies. It is a rare opportunity to actually view the workings of one of the area's largest shelters for the homeless. The facilities are incredible.
Their van will pick us up at 10:00 AM at the Barn and return us about 2:30 PM -- giving us a light luncheon along the way. As the seating is limited, please let Biz know as soon as possible (biz@paynter.comor 789-899-3533). This is an interesting trip!
